Youth Conference Pictures

The wait is over, we finally have Youth Conference pictures on the blog! Our theme was "We Believe" and had a poster made by some of the youth that we took around with us to take pictures. It was a wonderful Youth Conference as we did our first day at Temple Square and the second doing service and then water activities at Deer Creek.
First thing in the morning on Temple Square, waiting for the events to begin.

The Youth of the Church

Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley said, “I love the youth of the Church. I have said again and again that I think we have never had a better generation than this. How grateful I am for your integrity, for your ambition to train your minds and your hands to do good work, for your love of the word of the Lord, and for your desire to walk in paths of virtue and truth and goodness.

July Stake Thought

A few years ago I had the unique opportunity to study the Constitution of the United States as part of a college English class. I had always heard from our church leaders that the Constitution is a divinely inspired document. However, I never had taken the time to read it or think about it very much. In the times that we live there is a lot of unrest in our government. Many of the laws which people try to pass are against God's laws. So at this time when we celebrate our Independence as a nation I challenge you to find out what that independence means to you. Does it just mean hamburgers, hot dogs and fireworks or does it mean something more?

President Ezra Taft Benson said:
I reverence the Constitution of the United States as a sacred document. To me its words are akin to the revelations of God, for God has placed His stamp of approval on the Constitution of this land. I testify that the God of heaven sent some of His choicest spirits to lay the foundation of this government, and He has sent other choice spirits to preserve it.
We, the blessed beneficiaries, face difficult days in this beloved land, “a land which is choice above all other lands.” (Ether 2:10.) It may also cost us blood before we are through. It is my conviction, however, that when the Lord comes, the Stars and Stripes will be floating on the breeze over this people. May it be so, and may
God give us the faith and the courage exhibited by those patriots who pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor that we might be free.

Love to you all!

Girls Camp!

Sign at the beginning of our hike, we loved being in the mountains!
Yesterday we had the chance to go to girl's camp at the Heber Valley Camp. It was wonderful! Alexa was already there with the Point Meadows 1st ward and we were able to bring Ashley with us. We helped with a service project putting together children's kits and tying fleece blankets. We went on a short hike to the beautiful overlook and played some games (some we were really good at and others we weren't).

All of us at the overlook
The Bishop, Bro. Richens and their wives joined us for dinner, flag ceremony, the song festival and testimony meeting.

Singing about Noah's Ark!

Bro. and Sis. Richens, Bishop and Sis. Brough, Ashley, Alexa, Sis. Quinn, Sis. Fisher, and Sis. Oxborrow
Alexa is holding a picture of a beautiful pearl in a beautiful box. Pres. Gurney shared a story about a merchant who found a beautiful pearl and wanted to share the beauty with everyone around him. He had a special box made for it and put it in a museum for people to see. He became sad because as people came to see the pearl they admired the box more than the pearl and were missing the true beauty that was before them. He taught us that what is most important is what is on the inside, how true that is and what a great lesson for all of us!

YM/YW Combined Miniature Golf

I thought I was all prepared to take pictures of our mutual activity at Trafalga and when we got there the batteries in the camera were dead. I got a few pictures with my phone but they aren't the best quality, next time I'll be more prepared. :)

We had a great time for our first combined activity with the Young Men!
